Mov.- What are your tallest models and in what year did they come out?
We have been world leaders in great heights since the 60s, always with the firm commitment to maintain quality and safety at height. Our Bronto S104HLA has been the tallest machine in the world for over 15 years. However, 10 years ago we launched our Bronto S112 HLA (112 meters!) Model, being once again leaders in the industrial, military, civil protection and high voltage energy sectors. It should be noted that within the intercontinental energy sector, we have our 61-meter S197HDT equipment as the highest electrical insulation equipment in the world. This model was developed more than 25 years ago endorsed by the most important government energy companies in the world. Our Bronto equipment with 750000V insulation is a benchmark in the maintenance of nuclear power plants.
Mov.- Since its launch, have there been any significant improvements?
Bronto Skylift is constantly innovating its products by implementing the most recent developments in new technologies (Bronto5 +) and in parallel in R&D regarding mechanical components and especially in steel. Our equipment is manufactured in Finland where the development of materials, especially steel, has been synonymous with high-quality experience in the metallurgical and transformation sector since the beginning of the last century. The extraction of minerals and the manufacture of heavy mining machinery has provided added value to our product for years, collaborating with the most important Polytechnic Universities in the country.
Mov.- How many of this / os model has been sold internationally?
Worldwide we have more than 340 units delivered between 80-112 meters since 1990.
And in Spain?
In Spain we currently have more than 20 units between 90 and more than 100 meters of working height.
Mov.- For companies that may not be familiar with the work of high-rise truck platforms, tell us a bit: advantages, which sectors demand them, is it profitable, etc.
Each company must know its commercial and human potential very well to be able to face the profitability of the investment of our Bronto equipment in the shortest possible time. The high-rise aerial platform market is a “niche” market and therefore requires patience. An example: Most of the high-rise aerial platforms have their maximum occupation in the summer season. The meteorological factor is another variable unrelated to any business / commercial operation. Work at height must be completed once wind speeds of over 40 km / h are being reached. I consider that the mobile crane market is more dynamic and not so limited to weather influences and the spectrum of customers is considerably broader. However, I must emphasize that it is a similar sector / line of business, but it is not identical.
Mov.- Each time the self-propelled platforms reach higher (at the moment 67.5 m), what would you highlight of the advantage of the on-truck compared to the self-propelled ones?
I imagine if I talk to someone responsible for self-propelled platforms, they will be able to offer many advantages of their product. The point is that exhaustive training and above all experience I must have in knowing how to handle a team at a height of 67.5 m. Any erroneous maneuver by personnel not so familiar with such tall equipment can carry certain risks. Positioning at these high altitudes requires a lot of experience. Going into technical issues, the lower total weight should be highlighted, rather, the reduced pressure per square meter that truck-mounted platforms have, stabilization on steep slopes, reduced width of variable stabilization of the equipment and above all, the load capacity in basket.
Mov.- How is the return on investment for this type of machine?
I would like to point out that national clients maintain and take good care of their equipment through their qualified personnel. Most of the operators come from the Transport or Crane sector. This means that the residual values, even at 20 years, are very satisfactory in relation to the initial investment. As I have indicated previously, it is a "niche" market and this also has its advantage when reselling used equipment to third countries, which do not have enough demand / economic power to invest in new equipment.
Mov.- Do you think that in Spain there is growth capacity of high-rise parks?
Spain is a country that is in a constant growth of high altitude teams. It should be noted that it is growth, in my view, feasible and healthy. In other words, the parks are being renewed and especially with favorable residual sales values to be able to make purchase decisions for new equipment. We must bear in mind that Spain continues to grow in wind farm assemblies. Green energy today is a synonym for the future of business, as well as other sectors of heavy industry.
Mov.- What makes your machines some teams that are superior to the competition?
Especially the design of the telescopic arms and hydraulic cylinders. Our synonym for high-quality equipment comes from the whole set, where the hydraulics, mechanics and digitization of our equipment work in perfect harmony. In other words, most of the mechanical, hydraulic as well as electronic components are duplicated. If it is true, that the initial investment is higher, but in the long term we can verify that the reliability is absolute. The residual value even in equipment with more than 15 years old is considerable, since we have spare parts in stock at all times. I want to emphasize that with more than 7000 units delivered to more than 130 countries worldwide, it forces us to comply with the strict technical service requirements that our clients in the Military, Energy and Industrial sectors expect.
Mov.- Will we see new developments at great heights this year in your brand?
We want to announce the delivery of new high-rise equipment in the national market, which once again places our market as a benchmark for high-rise equipment worldwide.
Mov.- What message would you like to give to the market?
We are available to all customers and end customers to offer our services also abroad. I believe that all customers of high-rise aerial platforms today offer a long experience within the crane, transport and safety sector at heights. Why not take advantage of this knowledge to export it to other emerging countries at the hand of your end customers, such as the maintenance / assembly of wind farms.
Grúas Estación, a leading company in Galicia, expands its fleet of Bronto trucks and acquires its second Bronto S70XR aerial platform (winner of the Movicarga awards) and its 4th Bronto S70XDT.
With the implementation of two 70-meter Bronto trucks only in 2020, it is a benchmark for our brand's growth. Currently they also have in their fleet a Bronto S90HLA that was acquired 3 years ago.
BRONTO S70XR
The BRONTO SKYLIFT S70XR truck platform is a 70 meter truck mounted platform with compact transport dimensions.
It is not considered a special vehicle. Transport length of 11.97 m, which allows access to urban centers and highways. It does not require special circulation permits. It has a 1300 kg lifting crane to lift heavy loads in combination with the operators in the basket.
All Bronto equipment is equipped with two lift cylinders to offer greater rigidity at heights. Its digital driving system with color TFT screen indicates all operations in real time.
The jib is extendable through two sections with another jib (skyjib) added at a 180º angle. The basket extension can be extended up to 4.80 m and features a TV broadcast basket, patented by the BBC and Bronto Skylift.
BRONTO S70XDT Y BRONTO S90HLA
The Bronto S70XDT has a working height of 70 m and a lateral reach of 34.8 m, while the Bronto S90HLA has an impressive 90 m of working height and a maximum lateral reach of 32.5 m, with continuous rotation 360 degrees, which make them ideal equipment for this type of work where very versatile machines are required.
